partitioning hard drives, or should I not? [dell computer] [harddrive]

06 Feb

Q: My oldest son just had a Dell computer with a 160 g hard drive. Is it a good idea to partition, in at least 2, maybe 3 partitions? If so, can someone tell me how I link / thread anywhere that describes exactly how to do this? He also has some information stored on the hard disk, this will effect the guide, if we go ahead and partition?
thanks,
coadman

He has Windows XP on the computer.
