Q: How would I go about doing something like this? Its just a matter of dropping in the drivers? essence, the goal here is to install xp on a raid boot drive . whether SATA or PATA. The system does not have a floppy, so this is why I do this (and do not “get a floppy as a response). Not only raid drivers, say updated video drivers, mobo drivers or .

Best Answer: You have misread the purpose of slipstreaming. Slipstreaming is the process of including updates to Windows in the installation folder and requires that the Windows installation files are on your hard disk (or writable media to be more precise). You will need to start to install Windows XP and press the F6 key when prompted during the blue screen part of the installation. This will allow you to insert your SATA RAID drivers disk at that point and windows install will then be able to detect your raid array and complete the installation.
Re:i see…. any good sites w/ a tutorial for that? I've come across some things about that, but nothing specific for a noob.
Re:You can't do it that way.
The closest you can come is putting updated drivers in a separate location and doing an unattended installation with the oempnpdriverspath parameter specified.
Re:I know…that was simple
But I wish like hell to do the same thing you're wanting to do. That way I could finally rid myself of floppies
Re:eh, sp1 was pretty easy… there are several guides on the web for it. any other opinions?
Re:Man, I only wish.
