Lost password for XP, Windows can not open [step by step directions] [open windows]

26 Aug

Q: My sister is a business laptop a few months ago, but she forgot her login to get on the computer. Ive tried doing some research on the net, but I found a lot of places that say there is a complicated program to use the password reset. Is there an easy way for someone thats not very computer handle? Any websites I should check with step-by-step instructions?

You can install over the OS, otherwise you have no choice but to use a boot CD password changer like the one at http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

It isn't complicated to use. Just boot from it and follow the menus to reset the admin password.

Re:Have you tried the administrator account, most are setup to not have anything as the password.

Re:I believe if you boot into safe mode (F8) and then login as an administrator you can go into xp user accounts and change them.

There are many methods for windows password recovery. At one time I forgot windows password. I created a windows password reset disk with a program named windows login recovery and I successfully reset the forgotten password with the disk.
