Q: I am a computer friends. It is strange that counterstrike is not letting me use this Voodoo2 OpenGL. It says something like u0026quot, video mode not supported by your video card u0026quot, so I switch to D3D and I know it runs in D3D software because it is slow as heck. Whats wrong? I installed the latest Voodoo2 drivers and the latest drivers and Im running OpenDL DX8.
This is the case for Half-Life. Please help.
Re:I found the solutions for all Voodoo users.
1) Open your halflife folder.
2) OPen the "gldrv" folder.
3) Open "drvmap.txt"
make sure the text file now looks like this:
Default Default
gldrv/3dfxgl.dll 3Dfx Mini Driver
Use mini-driver(…the setting not the actress) and i'll promise you that it will work. 3rd party openGL drivers have problems with this method.
Thanks guys for all your help.
Re:I have never had any problems with either minigl wickedgl or just the newer drivers.
Re:Do what ER suggested. Select OpenGL, go to where it says default and click the downarrow, select 3dfx miniGL, and it will work fine.
Re:I don't have an answer, but I have 4 friends with either V2 or V3 cards that cannot run Half-Life v1.1.0.4 in OpenGL mode. they get the same error message: ""video mode not supported by your video card". D3D isn't an option in HL for Voodoo cards, so they have to run in crappy software mode, which defeats the whole point of getting a 3d accelerator card. they've tried both "default" and the correct "3dfx mini-driver" HL OpenGL drivers, V3 drivers v1.04 thru v1.07, and various WickedGL OpenGL driver versions and none work. I know HL v1.1.0.0 worked great with a V3 card, v1.05 drivers, and the latest (at the time) WickedGL drivers as I had that setup for a while. I haven't read anything about this problem on any website, including Sierra's HL, PlanetHL.com, or 3Dfx's, but a problem clearly exists.
let me know if you find out what's going on, guy. thanks!
Re:have you tried running it in 3dx miniGL?
